Katie's Red Silk Bustle Gown

For Katie's 30th birthday, I made her an 1880's style ball gown. She wanted to be "the girl in the big red dress" and boy, was she ever!

Basic Overview:

The bodice is loosely based on a Truly Victorian pattern, as are the skirt and overskirt. I did my own modifications, such as adding a detachable train, and redrafting the neckline of the pattern. It wasn't necesarrily meant to be a historically accurate costume, but more of a historical interpretation.

Katie made her bustle and petticoat.

Thoughts:

The dress came together easily and Katie was lovely. :)
