Various Attempts At Reproducing The Fabric In The Portrait: Attempt #1: Dye the fabric using a special dye from Dharma Trading, Co. intended to dye only the rayon stripe but not the silk ground. Advantage: If it worked, it would leave the silk ground undyed. Disadvantage: Didn't work. Dyed everything a bright bubblegum pink. Attempt #2: Underlaying the self-stripe silk organza with a colored organza. Advantage: Involves no dyeing and is relatively inexpensive, producing uniform results. Disadvantage: The stripes read as reversed from the portrait, ie. white stripe on colored ground, vs. colored stripe on white ground.
