In my never-ending quest for the perfect pair of bodies, I decided I needed a fancy effigy corset. These stays are made from silk/rayon brocade (the same as the petticoat from my Eleanor Benlowes gown), interlined in coutil and lined in natural linen. Its boned with 1/4" wide reeds, and the eyelets are handbound with gray silk button hole twist using a buttonhole stitch over a soldered jump ring. The stays are bound in red/black shot silk taffeta bias tape. As my last few sets of effigy corsets have been, this one laces front and back to help with weight fluctuations. The pattern for this corset differs from the last three I've made. In this case, I was pattern testing my own pattern, based on measurements. It came out very well, although these stays are higher in front than I would like. All that aside, I really liked how this effigy corset turned out. |
