The dress is finished! Not all that much to say... But go look at the pictures!

Ok. I changed my mind. Again. The 1830's dress ultimately caused me much more stressing and worrying than any costume ever should, so I was already on the verge of scrapping it again when I saw the above dress on the Vintage Textile website. I couldn't resist! The stripes, the horozontal bands around the hems and sleeves and waist... I took exactly two seconds to think it over and decided that the 1830s were over and I was going to make this dress out of the blue and white striped taffeta.

So, having been stalled for as long as I was with the 1830s outfit (which never got past the toile stage), this was a biiiiiiiiig relief. I knew the territory well enough to not have any wrenching questions about what is and isn'tperiod, and patterns would be a cinch to find (as in, I already owned any patterns I couldn't draft up on my own). So liberating! I made the majority of the outfit in one weekend. Talk about low stress!
