Once upon a time, Katie needed something to wear for the Société des Lumières autumn fete. So, I threw this together with one day of fitting, half a mock-up and about three weeks of time to get it done. All the while, she was off galavanting about the country as the fabulous flight attendant she is. It was a one-shot deal. Get the mock-up right and that was about all we could hope for (I'm becoming depressingly good at one-shot deals these days... I really don't want to be known as the costumer who can do a single fitting and make it work, because dude, it's stressful not getting multiple fittings). I do the majority of work by hand these days, but this dress has a minimal amount of machine sewing to speed the process along (mainly in the long seams in the skirt and petticoat). I think I'll be redoing the trimming when I'm less rushed, because there's stuff happening there that I'm not excited about. However, Katie, as usual, threatens to slap me if I mention it. So, that's all I'm saying about that. ;) |
